Our Importance To The Community Is: |

|
The CCCC-Youth Development Subcommittee was formed in late
1998 in response to the availability of the county block grant funds for teen
pregnancy prevention. A major focus In 2002-2003, the CCCC-APPI Subcommittee changed their focus from total direct services to public awareness and community development with some direct services offered by subcontractors. A full time Community Outreach Coordinator was hired to help increase public understanding of the problem and link youth agencies with church groups, schools, etc.. In 2003-2004, this system was further developed and coordinated with the new Governor's Cooperative Agreement for Prevention projects. The CCCC-APPI Subcommittee changed into the CCCC Youth Development Coalitions, meeting separately in Cheraw and Pageland. These two towns are the "hot spot" areas with the highest teen pregnancy rates and other risk behaviors in the county. As with any other CCCC Subcommittee , membership is open to any agency or individual willing to work on the issues. |
